At Gutierrez Community Health, our team of dedicated healthcare professionals is committed to delivering compassionate, high-quality, patient-centered care to the South Florida community. Led by Dr. Pete Gutierrez, our Founder and Medical Director, the clinic brings together experienced providers who combine clinical expertise with a deep commitment to wellness, equity, and personalized care.
From primary care and preventive services to emergency and behavioral health support, our providers work collaboratively to ensure every patient receives care that promotes health, dignity, and hope.
Pete A. Gutierrez, MD
Founder & Medical Director
Dr. Pete A. Gutierrez is a physician, educator, veteran, and community leader whose life embodies service, resilience, and compassion. Born in Cuba and brought to the United States in 1962 through Operation Pedro Pan, he went on to graduate from Miami Senior High School and proudly serve in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Before entering medicine, Dr. Gutierrez worked as a public-school teacher and decorated narcotics officer with the Miami Police Department. Fulfilling a lifelong dream, he became a physician and served in leadership and teaching roles at Miami Dade College, Nova Southeastern University, and Florida International University—where he was the Founding Chair of the Physician Assistant Program at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.
His visionary leadership has earned him numerous honors, including Florida’s Officer of the Year and the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Healthcare Hero Award.
Maylin Perez Roman, APRN, FNP-C
Family Nurse Practitioner
Maylin Perez Roman is a compassionate Family Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience in primary care, infectious disease, and behavioral health. Trained as a physician in Havana, Cuba, she later earned her Master of Science in Nursing in the United States and holds certifications in IV Therapy, Antibiotic Stewardship, BLS, and ACLS.
At the Gutierrez Community Health Clinic, Maylin provides comprehensive, patient-centered care to individuals and families from diverse backgrounds. Fluent in English and Spanish, she is dedicated to promoting wellness, dignity, and equitable healthcare for all.
Orlando Companioni, PA-C
Physician Assistant
With over a decade of experience in emergency medicine and primary care, Orlando Companioni is a dedicated Physician Assistant providing comprehensive, compassionate care at Gutierrez Community Health. His clinical expertise includes patient assessment, diagnostics, treatment planning, and preventive care.
Before becoming a Physician Assistant, Orlando served as a firefighter/paramedic with the Broward Sheriff’s Office, where he developed strong leadership and emergency response skills. Fluent in Spanish and certified in ACLS, BLS, and PALS, he is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-focused care that supports the health and well-being of South Florida’s diverse community.
